Thinking Skills
Thinking skills was introduced to replace the General Ability section in the selective school exam. The Thinking Skills component of the exam was written with the intention to minimize the impact of additional tutoring on the performance of students. It is also generally regarded as more difficult due to its abstract nature, while other subjects are explicitly taught as part of the curriculum during primary school, thinking skills are developed more indirectly compared to other areas like mathematical reasoning.

Reading
Reading is a critical part of the development of students. This section of the exam is designed to test the ability of students to discern, evaluate, and internalise information. Erudite tutors tailor tutoring to leverage each student’s strengths and improve upon their weaknesses. For example, we often find that students struggle more with inference based questions. For such students, exam practice papers are then front-loaded with inference based questions interspersed with other question types.
