For Ashleigh, the heart of teaching lies in sparking a love of learning in each student. She is passionate about creating an environment where students feel valued, respected, and connected. Ashleigh believes that when students know their teacher genuinely cares about them, they’re more likely to embrace learning with enthusiasm and positivity. This philosophy has guided her approach throughout her five years as a classroom teacher, primarily working with grades 2, 3, and 4, along with her experience as a casual relief teacher (CRT) across all primary-aged classrooms. Her teaching journey has provided a broad perspective on various learning environments, from small, close-knit cohorts to larger classrooms with diverse learning needs. She has taught in a wide range of settings, including traditional, tech-free classrooms, open-plan layouts, and high-tech learning spaces, each presenting unique opportunities and challenges. Working across multiple schools has given Ashleigh valuable insights into a variety of educational programs and approaches in literacy, numeracy, and wellbeing. Teaching students with diverse academic, emotional, and diagnostic needs has shaped Ashleigh’s commitment to adaptable and inclusive education.
