Role background

Private tutoring with a support system around you.

Erudite means someone who has become academically accomplished through study, reading, and serious attention to a subject. For professional teachers, that standard is strengthened by classroom judgement and deep familiarity with how students learn.

Since 2018, Erudite Tuition has provided one-to-one online and in-home tutoring for K-12 students. Our work is personal: lessons should be interactive, focused on the student's current needs, and steady enough to build confidence over time.

Professional Teachers bring curriculum knowledge, assessment experience, and calm authority into a private tutoring setting with fewer administrative distractions and careful student matching.

What we look for

Strong applications show judgement, clarity, and care.

Successful applicants must be able to obtain a valid Australian Business Number and Working With Children Check or equivalent. These can be arranged after the application is successful.

Teaching qualification
You must hold an active Australian teaching accreditation or registration. This will be verified during recruitment.
Communication skills
Professional teachers need to translate classroom expertise into precise, one-to-one explanations that students can act on immediately.
Relevant experience
We look for teachers with classroom experience, curriculum familiarity, and the confidence to adapt lessons to individual student needs.
Mentoring skills
Strong one-to-one teaching requires calm leadership: helping students feel safe to ask, try, revise, and build independence.

Do I need to be a registered teacher in Australia?

Yes. This role is for registered or accredited Australian teachers, and you will be required to provide proof of accreditation.

If you are not a registered teacher, apply for the Academic Tutor role instead.

I completed high school outside Australia. Can I still apply?

Erudite Tuition is an Australian-based tutoring organisation. For applicants who completed schooling outside Australia, we generally need to see relevant experience with the Australian curriculum.

Applicants who completed schooling in Australia are highly regarded. If you have experience teaching Australian students, you are encouraged to explain that in your application.

Where do my lessons take place?

Depending on your preference and student fit, lessons may take place online or at a student's home. Some in-person lessons may also happen in suitable local spaces such as libraries.

For online lessons, Erudite organises the online classroom so you can open the lesson from the provided link or dashboard.

How far would I be required to travel for lessons?

For in-person lessons, you travel to the student's home or another agreed location. Erudite will never force you to teach a student.

Every potential student is first confirmed with you before a trial lesson is arranged. We provide travel time and location details so you can make an informed decision.

How much do I have to work?

You can work as much or as little as suits your schedule. We only ask that you take on students you can support consistently over the longer term, because many families are looking for a steady mentor.

Where a student needs temporary support, that will be made clear in the student details.

I've never tutored privately before. Can I apply?

Yes. Classroom teaching experience is highly transferable to private tutoring. The Erudite team will help you understand the practical differences between classroom teaching and one-to-one tutoring.

Can I choose the subjects I teach?

Yes. You choose the subjects you are comfortable tutoring. Generally, professional teachers are expected to tutor subjects they already teach or have taught in school.

Where can I get help with my application?

For recruitment questions, email talent@eruditetuition.com.au. Please avoid calling the main support number for application questions, as that line is primarily for families.
