Online Lesson Help Guide

Here you’ll find handy quick guides to set up your online lesson for the first time and what to do if you’re experiencing issues. We’ve partnered with Lessonspace and use this platform as a default for all our online lessons.

You do not need to download anything from Lessonspace, it is all accessible through your browser. We do recommend all students to open a test room and ensure everything is working so that there are no delays to the trial lesson. You can access a test room by using the button below

Requirements for lessonspace

Please ensure that you are using one of the recommended and available browsers for Lessonspace.

Joining the Lesson

Audio or Video Not Working

Ensure you’ve given permission to your browsers to allow for audio and video. When joining, you’ll see a pop-up that asks you to allow access. Press allow.

Example of allowing camera/microphone permissions with Chrome.

If you’ve accidentally blocked the camera/microphone access, you’ll see a little red cross through your camera in the URL bar at the top. Click that and you’ll be asked to allow access. Select “Always Allow” and reload your page. If you have multiple cameras or microphones, please select the suitable ones.

Troubleshooting

Press the cog on the right hand side of the page to check if everything is working correctly. You’ll notice a red “!” mark if something is not working properly as intended.

Select the Settings (Cog) on the right hand side to open Troubleshooting.

Follow the troubleshooting guide:

Follow all recommendations from the troubleshooting tool.

Once the troubleshooting says “Everything looks good” then you are good to go.

Please make sure to close Zoom, Skype or any other application that requires access to video/microphone. If not done properly, this may restrict Lessonspace’s ability to access your camera/microphone as they are already in use.

If your video is freezing but your audio is fine this is because Lessonspace will prioritize your audio over your video because your internet connection is poor.

Whiteboard Issues

If you notice a drawing lag while using a writing tablet, this is most likely due to a compatibility issue with the browser and writing tablet. Lessonspace has been tested with most of the major writing tablet brands but may experience some issues with a small number of models.
